It is what it is ($C Sucks!)

There Jill and I were sitting, high above the southern endzone in the Rose Bowl. A long boring TV timeout was lulling us all into sleep. SOmething about a fumble in the Notre Dame/UCLA game this evening. Neither team came to play. In fact, neither team wanted to win. Ultimately UCLA wanted to win less. But I digress...

The crowd started to rumble like an oncoming train in the distance. "What was that?" "Stanford scored?" We ignored such rumours... "What? Stanford is winning?" The crowd buzzed more knowing that U$C, the evil that walks the earth, was suddenly losing to the erudite but football-challenged Stanford Cardinal. The noise raised in power -- going from whispers to full out screams. Are people just going crazy? Are they just Howard Dean impersonators?

Then it happened a few minutes later... still during this eternal time out. "It's over!" Indeed the crowd rejoiced in communal celebration: Notre Dame and UCLA fan arm-in-arm. Then the chant throughout the stadium, "$C sucks!" It reverberated throughout all of Pasadena. It could be heard all the way in South Central where all the Trojan wannabes are skinning their knees as they jump off the bandwagon.

While the night did not go well for the Bruins, it still went well for us. Jill and I had a great time, we tailgated before and after the game, the rabbits ate their carrots, and I tasted some really good local rootbeer. That's what it's all about. OK, maybe onion rings too... but some other day...

I see London, I see France....

Well, I guess I'll stay in London. According to the oh-so-accurate blogthings poll, I belong in London!

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.
A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.
A unique soul like you needs a city that offers everything.
No wonder you and London will get along so well.

Actually, I hope to see Dublin soon. John and I are tossing the idea of a Spring Break in Ireland. Neither of us have been and it's on our "to see" list. I know it'll be chilly but that shouldn't slow us down. Stay tuned!

Uh, Oh! No logic here

According to the wizards at some on-line IQ testing, I am below average when it comes to logic! I am glad John's logical. LOL!

Your IQ Is 110

Your Logical Intelligence is Below Average

Your Verbal Intelligence is Genius

Your Mathematical Intelligence is Genius

Your General Knowledge is Average

Oh gosh...and my IQ is only 110?! It's been hotter than that in Phoenix all week. Poor Lisa!

Feeling deserted....

That's how you all (like there are readers!) should feel.
I recently discovered that John's been blogging on Myspcace. Ya, that's right. He's deserted us.

Perhaps he feels more connected to the myspace crowd! Geez, I hope not!! What would we do without his bunny posts and his babbling about sports?!

I am feeling a bit deserted too. He's off drinking and enjoying football talk while I am left here with a leaking freezer. Yes, the freezer is leaking. Well, actually, it's slowly dripping and has to be kept shut with duct tape. Football season is upon us and so are nights of John obsessively checking stats on the internet. Welcome to the glamorous life of newleyweds!

Moving on.....

Okay, John nor I are great at this blogging thing...but guess what? I started another one!

Well, I figure that John's LHS crew don't need to read my thoughts on cooking or home decorating. I guess that'll be saved for (heatherb) since she's the most likely to "stop in".

So....for girl-related talk....see me at

In the meantime, I've gotta go pack. We are headed to Catalina for a end-of-summer break!!

Let them eat cake....really good chocolate cake!

We attended a wedding and reception on Saturday. John's high school friend and taunting buddy, Peter, married Lillian. Pete and Lillian dated for almost as long as we did. Too long! We both remember the first sighting of Lillian. Pete dragged her along to Magic Mountain. Obviously it was early in my relationship w/John....now I'd say no-go to MM! They can have those silly rides. Lillian was nothing like me. She was fearless and could hang w/the boys! I don't remember much from that first encounter. Now I can say that I am so happy that she's a permanant fixture in Peter's life...since Peter seems to be a permanant fixture in John's life!

The wedding: Wow!! It was the first wedding I attended since our nuptials. Apples and oranges....our two weddings! Their chosen venue overlooked the Pacific Ocean. It was at a private beach club and it was exclusive! We arrived and were handed champagne. We sat and watched the ocean and listened to mostly orchestral versions of Queen songs (nice tribute to the groom!). The first sight of Lillian took my breath away. She was stunning in her ivory gown and cathedral length veil. She slowly walked down a stairway from the upstairs rooms. It really was the most beautiful entrance of a bride that I've seen! Here's a not-so-close pic:

The flowers were gorgeous. All in shades of red ranging from deep red dhalias to bright pinkish red hydrangeas. Beautiful and so tasteful.

The evening was so wonderful. We were excited to see two favorite couples: Raffi and Tamar, and new parents, Scott and Cyndi. We gabbed and danced and ate (amazing Mrs. Beasley's chocolate cake!) all night.

John continues to have a close relationship with his high school classmates. It reminds me so much of my Linden gal pals. If we lived closer, we'd probably throw jabs just like the Loyola bunch. For good measure, here's a pic of the guys...

The climax of the evening was a fireworks show! Yes....fireworks for the wedding. Truly spectacular and a treat for all of the guests. So much fun!
We've placed bets on the next wedding that we'll attend....I don't think it'll be soon but we've got great memories from this one to hold us over!

Escape Artists!

Root Beer Float and Ruby Jane have watched The Great Escape too many times. They manage to find any possible way to sneak out of a cage, a box, or a trapped area. They remind me of those raptors in Jurrasic Park (except much cuter) in that they seemingly learn each time and situation. Smart smart bunnies.

In fact I believe that RBF is going to rewrite Hamlet in August. You go do that, rabbit.

Bunny Update (By Popular Demand!)

Ruby Jane should be a parrot! She happily sits on my shoulder and looks about but never leaves. If I gave her a cracker, I bet she'd just chatter her teeth and say, "Bunny wants a carrot, you fool!" I hope she wouldn't call me a fool... that's what she'd do to my neighbor Pete.

Ruby Jane does sneeze occasionally though. Root Beer Float is much less of a "touch-me-not" type of rabbit and will actually lick your arms and face. Such a friendly bunny.

Cherry Bugg was a bit irritated today but she is quickly distracted by a good nose rub.

As for Phillip and Jane, they have each other and are often oblivious to people. However, Phillip does seem to be aggravated by the two new young ones.

4th of July; or, "New" Car!

Yes, it was another yaer of me running in a 5K. And this time I finally finished in a shorter amount of time than Pete. Victory for me! I shall not relinquish this title. Maybe I should retire from running?

Meanwhile Jill and I also hosted the family over for the Fourth. Lots of hot dogs, other food, children, rabbits, and NO FIREWORKS. Thank goodness... those popping noises gets a little obnoxious after a while. Jill and I must be getting old; we went to bed at 9pm last night. We have seen plenty of fireworks in our life. We can see more next yaer.

And I have a brand old car! A 1989 Volvo which runs smoothly. Yea for me! Maybe I'll throw in a picture down the line.

Vocab quiz tomorrow: be prepared, sophomores!
