Over two thousand yaers ago, the pregnant Mary and her husband Joseph struggled to find a place to stay as she was nearing birth and every innkeeper said there was no room. So they found a stable and gave birth to the infant Jesus there. Not only did shepherds and "wise men" show up from far distances, so also did animals. Sheep, goats, camels, and dogs were many of the animals that were invited to attend.
Alas, rabbits were not invited. It was later discovered that their invitation was lost and this could only be told to them by St. Francis who could speak to the animals. This, however, was over 1,000 yaers too late. The rabbits were not amused. So they created their own holiday: Thumpmas. This commemorates the inability of the messengers of the time to spread the Word to the rabbits. Thus on that specific day of the yaer when all other men and creatures celebrate Christmas as the birth of our Lord and Saviour, rabbits celebrate Thumpmas in which they thump every twenty minutes to signify their frustration in not being invited to the Great Birth.
Nowadays some manger scenes have added rabbits to the Nativity but that is just revisionist history. We know the real truth.
Cherry Bugg, Princess Jane, Phillip, Root Beer Float, and Ruby Jane will be celebrating Thumpmas this December 25th. Will you?
2020s: The Rise of the Giants I thought it was difficult having three children but four bunnies... and two of them Flemish giants? Not enough food in the house! And it's been a while but with the Coronavirus, it's time to reboot the blog. It's time for us to update everyone on nine living creatures at the same house for over a month...

Things that make Christmas rock......

Okay, I preface this by saying that "Jesus is the reason for the season", and such....and yes, I appreciate Christmas for the real meaning but I want to talk about what make commercial Christmas rock.
First, only at Christmas time am I able to talk John into trekking with me to the mall. All other times of the year, the mall is off limits. This includes stand alone stores too. But at Christmas, he'll just shrug, and say "okay". This morning we were in Target getting our living Christmas tree (for the record, getting a living tree took us three days to acquire. that's another story for another day). When we pulled into the parking lot, I knew that the store was going to be wild. John, on the other hand, has very little to compare it to so he didn't seem bothered. Once inside, we were disappointed with the selection but a sad, lonely tree called out to us and wanted to come home with us. So he did. Meanwhile, I knew I needed a few other things (you know how Target can be....)....and lo and behold, John did not wince when I told him that I needed a couple of things from inside the store. Unbelievable. That's one reason Christmas rocks. John doesn't get annoyed while shopping. Yippee!
Second, only at Christmas time can you pull out glitter, gold, and silver. Slap it around the house, and you get compliments. When would you ever have cheap looking gold glitter adorn your front door? Never. That's reason # 2 that Christmas rocks.
I am sure I come up with other reasons but for the time being, I'll leave it at that. We'll post Christmas pics of our tree soon. Yippee x two!

Inside outside...
Root Beer Float and Ruby Jane have made quite the living of either flopping in their outdoor cage or flopping on the tile floor in the den. Wait -- as I turn to look at them -- it's time to clean their paws.
RBF is still getting shots every other day to deal with her snuffles. I think it's getting better. She doesn't sneeze nearly as much and she has even more spunk and tenacity than ever before.
So if you go get a rabbit, make sure you get two. Fluffy thumpers need company.

Thumpsgiving!
It's the time of the year where all rabbits convene and talk about what they are thumpful. Some rabbits like Jane are thumpful because they do not have enough free time or are seemingly surrounded by petty proletarian rabbits. Phillip is thumpful because he does not get to spend enough time with the other pretty female rabbits. And he is thumpful of the hose. Cherry Bugg is thumpful for being hungry, not being petted behind the ears (just right), and living in the same back yard as two young giggling female rabbits. Root Beer Float is thumpful because her sneezing makes her whiskers messy. However, she is appreciative of the medication we give her. And as for Ruby Jane, she's thumpful for being touched, not being fed, and sometimes for just talking to her. So in total, the bunnies are thumpful for many things.
Hopefully Jill is not too thumpful with me.

Jury Duty
THUMP. With just a few minutes left of my one day/one trial service, I was called into a jury panel. THUMP.
Other than that the only other highlight of the day was sternly telling the man booming on the cell phone next to me to shut the heck up. I received rave reviews from the peanut gallery. Sometimes the Mr. Erb comes out in me.
Tonight both Jane and Cherry Bugg sat on my lap while watching TV. Nothing better than bunny TV time.

It is what it is ($C Sucks!)
There Jill and I were sitting, high above the southern endzone in the Rose Bowl. A long boring TV timeout was lulling us all into sleep. SOmething about a fumble in the Notre Dame/UCLA game this evening. Neither team came to play. In fact, neither team wanted to win. Ultimately UCLA wanted to win less. But I digress...
The crowd started to rumble like an oncoming train in the distance. "What was that?" "Stanford scored?" We ignored such rumours... "What? Stanford is winning?" The crowd buzzed more knowing that U$C, the evil that walks the earth, was suddenly losing to the erudite but football-challenged Stanford Cardinal. The noise raised in power -- going from whispers to full out screams. Are people just going crazy? Are they just Howard Dean impersonators?
Then it happened a few minutes later... still during this eternal time out. "It's over!" Indeed the crowd rejoiced in communal celebration: Notre Dame and UCLA fan arm-in-arm. Then the chant throughout the stadium, "$C sucks!" It reverberated throughout all of Pasadena. It could be heard all the way in South Central where all the Trojan wannabes are skinning their knees as they jump off the bandwagon.
While the night did not go well for the Bruins, it still went well for us. Jill and I had a great time, we tailgated before and after the game, the rabbits ate their carrots, and I tasted some really good local rootbeer. That's what it's all about. OK, maybe onion rings too... but some other day...

I see London, I see France....
Well, I guess I'll stay in London. According to the oh-so-accurate blogthings poll, I belong in London!
Actually, I hope to see Dublin soon. John and I are tossing the idea of a Spring Break in Ireland. Neither of us have been and it's on our "to see" list. I know it'll be chilly but that shouldn't slow us down. Stay tuned!

A little old fashioned, and a little modern. A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock. A unique soul like you needs a city that offers everything. No wonder you and London will get along so well. |

Uh, Oh! No logic here
According to the wizards at some on-line IQ testing, I am below average when it comes to logic! I am glad John's logical. LOL!
Oh gosh...and my IQ is only 110?! It's been hotter than that in Phoenix all week. Poor Lisa!
