Bunny Civil War While MJ Awakens

A busier afternoon at Chez Erb than expected. This being a typical Saturday, the trio of Phillip, Chip, and Cherry Bugg were out and about in the back yard. Chip usually keeps to himself under the orange tree while Cherry Bugg and Phillip stay in their own territories.

Meanwhile Root Beer Float was brought inside to show off to a visitor. She was then locked up in Chip's cage. Ah... but Mister John and Miss Jill forgot something quite important... RBF knows how to escape. So she hopped up and over the 30 inch barrier (well, her father is the famous European show jumping rabbit Root Beer, Sr.) and she hopped out into the back yard to pick a fight... or two.

Alas, Root Beer Float does not get along with her younger brother Chip so they must have tussled. Then she and her aunt Cherry Bugg went at in a few different battles in the back yard. Oh those silly fur pulling battles.

Mister John got out there much too late but he saw the empty cage in the house and went outside to break it up. As he settled the rabbits' scrimmages, poor miss Mary Jane grew hungry and voiced her own opinion on this. She cried out loud demanding food which awakened poor sleeping Miss Jill who had been up for many hours. But all problems were averted as MJ got her food, RBF was put into her cage, and Cherry Bugg was assured that she was cute and smart rabbit.

Saturdays just aren't the same at Chez Erb anymore. Much more festive... Tis the season, I guess.

Cherry Bugg Does Not Know Swahili

A slight problem has surface as Miss Jill and Mister John were thinking about adopting a rabbit from another country. Such international adoptions have been on the rise over the years. And with such notable and high-profile international bunny adoptions by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, it seems to be all the rage now. That's great and all but it makes it really difficult for the normal bunny loving family to adopt from outside the country.

Furthering the problems, the Chez Erb rabbits do not speak Swahili. While they all naturally speak "rabbit" (or for those who don't know, Thumpish), they do not know the local dialects of eastern Africa. Poor ol' Zabunja (pictured here) knows very little English and even less Thumpish which might prove difficult in adjusting to American rabbit life. Phillip, of course, speaks fluent Spanish (European Spanish of course, none of this Latin American Thumpish as he calls it) but not even he knows French or German.

The most well-versed of all the rabbits regarding language would be Root Beer Bugg but as we all know, he is spending much of his life overseas competing in jumping competition. Root Beer Bugg was greatly inspired by his Uncle Olaf who is pictured here. He was the first rabbit to win the EuroBunny championship in consecutive years. He personally trained Root Beer Bugg and while has done well, he has rarely visited home. Mama Bugg is ok with it as she has had many children who have hopped off without giving any return respect to their mother. Anyway, Root Beer is fluent in over six languages but sadly knows nothing about Swahili. Poor Zabunja may never get adopted to the United States. But there is always hope.

Chip Afraid to Visit In-Laws

Poor Chip has been watching too much news on TV and now he is paranoid that if Miss Jill and Mister John take him to visit Miss Jill's parents in Arizona that he might be deported. Chip realized that he doesn't have any papers and his father, Root Beer, Sr., is still in Denmark teaching gymnastics. (Note: that supplements his income to go on tour and compete in jumping exhibitions.) If Chip is deported then he may never see his grandparents again!

Cherry Bugg, however, welcomed this turn of events. "We don't like his kind of subterfuge here. We think he needs to go!" Chee never exactly stated who the "we" she was talking about. But it was quite alarming that she would speak that way against her own nephew. "My brother got all the love," Chee later complained. "It was always Root Beer this and Root Beer that. I say THUMP to that. Thump, I say."

Mama and Papa Bugg ignored this rant knowing how much they love all their grandchildren. "It's MEH that my babies don't get along but this whole anti-Rabbit thing in Arizona has got to go. They have all those ugly jackrabbits there. Why not some really cute Buggs?"

Papa Bugg later off the camera said he'd support whatever position got him a free beer and some smokes.

Chocolate Bunny also reminded everyone not to eat chocolate.

Meet the Parents

To know the rabbits in the Bugg family, first you must know their parents. Mama Bugg, on the left, is a strong-minded mother who only looks out for the best of her family. She teaches the younger bunnies to groom at an early age and usually they reciprocate in turn. However, the bunnies do tend to rebel as they age and sometimes may even bite her on the nose when in an argument with her.

Papa Bugg, on the right, was not always on hand to raise the children and that has been a problem in their relationship. Luckily, he is done with his tour of duty as a merchant marine and now he is back to keep an eye on them. He often has to keep Cherry Bugg in line and she tends to thump and squawk when she does not get her way. Luckily he has left his merchant marine language back at the docks but he does struggle with his vices of drinking and smoking. Mama Bugg's forceful presence helps out with that. And while Root Beer Bugg is off in Europe participating in jumping shows, it is good that Mama and Papa Bugg have helped raise their grandchildren: Ruby Jane, Root Beer Float, and Chip (also known as Root Beer Junior).

But in another good sign for the parents, Cherry Bugg helps clean their bedroom as the picture on the right shows ChBu assiduously manning the broom and dust bin in case any bunny leaves a present behind. Good for you, Cherry Bugg! Mister John and Miss Jill are quite fond of rabbits who help with the chores.

New Edition to the Erb Household!!!

Chip is here! One of the long lost children of Root Beer Bugg has found his way to Dewey Street! Root Beer, Jr., who goes by Chip has been here for a few days. He does not have a picture yet as Miss Jill has not downloaded anything this week.

Chip is definitely a "chocolate chip off the old block" and he is a hungry little guy. He already has figured out that hopping up onto the couch is a good thing, loves nose rubs, and will eat anything placed in front of him (including Mr. John's shoe).

Hopefully, he is kept aloof from the politics of the backyard. While that whole bi-party commotion in the back yard has kept it rabbit versus rabbit, the beloved Chip seems too happy for such things.
