Old Guard Not Happy about the Changes to the Backyard

A formal complaint was registered this weekend by both Phillip and Ruby Jane regarding the summer reconfiguration of the back yard.  The re-inclusion of the hammock and water table have confused matters for the elder gentry.  Suddenly when they hop across the back yard -- or more specifically to return to their cage ramp -- there's a large spot of water which literally dampens their hopping ability.

"This is intolerable," said Phillip this weekend.  "Someone needs to be fired for such a poor attempt at feng shui in this back yard."

Upon hearing Phillip's complaint, Mister John replied, "But I thought I was OK with that.  Didn't I win $300 in Vegas last month playing that?"  Oh, that Mister John.

Ruby Jane still has issues with placing the slide ride over a prime grazing area.  Although the hammock she says does provide shaded relief in the summertime.  "What we really need is morning relief from the sun?  Whatever happened to our covers to the cage?  THUMP."  Mister John feebly responded that the burlap sacks were torn apart by hungry squirrels.  No rabbit bought that excuse though.  They tend to buy very little that Mister John sells.

Oh, such is life in the Erb backyard.  Revolution is fomenting and Mary Jane and Betsy Jo have no idea it's coming.

Let's See If Fate Is for the Birds

Along the trip home from southern Utah, we stayed one brief evening at the Venetian in Las Vegas.  It was a fun night... the girls got to go swimming, we had an absolutely delicious dinner there, and the gambling was a success.  The pai gow dealer was colder than Greenland which warmed up my end of the table.  With my winnings came a very minimal wager on the team with the pic down below.  Hey, if one of their key bench players breaks a leg, that's got to unify everyone... right?  Besides, I still remember the near brawl we had with Wichita State so long ago.  Of course that we refers to the UCLA Bowling Team.  Yes, we had a team!          Anyway, go Cards minus the 10.5.

Post-game update:

Argh... they won but by not nearly enough.  They trailed the whole game... thank you, 8-0, deficit.  If they would have started off at a more reasonable start...

That's what I get for betting the favorite.  Go Bruins.

No Fooling! Erb Family Back at Home

The Venetian, where we stayed last night
After a long vacation in Utah (no worries, many pics and videos to be placed on the blog in the next few days), the Erb family stayed one night in Las Vegas before heading home this afternoon.  There is no truth to the rumor that Mommy taught Mary Jane to say, "Vegas, baby!"  Mary Jane only can say, "Las Vegas!"  And no, Daddy did not teach her to say, "Viva Las Vegas!" either.

Before leaving for home this morning, Daddy wisely placed some action on the Dodgers this afternoon.  A 4-0 victory over the Hated Ones gave Daddy, a lifelong Dodger fan, double satisfaction: an Opening Day victory as well as money in the pockets.  As the old saying goes, "Baby needs a new pair of shoes!"  Indeed, I think Betsy Jo does.

Vegas Baby!

Miss Jill was tired of feeding rabbits this week (I smell irony there) so she left for Vegas. She has a nice spacious room with glorious furniture. Meanwhile the bunnies and I stay home at Chez Erb. That's OK. Really it is.

Hopefully she bets on UCLA football for me. Then again... they could tank horribly this weekend.
