Posing at Two Months Old!

That's our Jack!  Still not quite sleeping through the night.  Almost coming up with a smile.  So close.  But by next month, he'll hit all of those markers and I'll be sleeping much better.

Who Needs Sleep Anyway?

Clearly Mary Jane does not.  She crawled out of her crib repeatedly tonight to remind Mommy and Daddy that they should also be going to sleep.  In a span of about ten minutes, she shuttled from Daddy (flopped on the couch playing Sudoko on his Kindle Fire) to Mommy (feigning sleep in the bedroom) kissing them both good night.  This repeated over and over... finally she thought of climbing back into her crib and she did.  For about ten minutes.  Then she came back out to check up on the sleep patterns of her beloved parents.  Finally... after she walked into the master bedroom and saw Mommy and Daddy both "asleep," she climbed on the bed and nearly jumped on Mommy's ribs before Daddy had to place her to sleep.  Now... quietly... peacefully... calmly... Mary Jane sleeps.

I think Mommy is asleep too.

Daddy blogs.  What's up with that?

Sleepy Bunnies... Or Not!

Mommy is celebrating because Daddy is done with grad school for the semester.  No more Wednesday nights of Mary Jane trying to test Mommy's resolve while she fakes going to sleep.  But poor Mary Jane does have a nagging cold this week so she wasn't totally trying to work the guilt trip on Mommy.

 Cupcake?  Gimme some of that!
There's some yummy food for Betsy.

Chee Emulates a Bunny on the Head!

Unbeknownst to Mister John, a certain Cherry Bugg hopped onto the top of the bed last night and commandeered his pillow. Typically she will sleep at the foot of their bed and sometimes on the bed, again at their feet. But occasionally she will sleep at the top. In those occurrences, she is apt to bite Miss Jill on the top of the head. Why? Maybe a movement by the sleeping Miss Jill startles her? Or maybe she just like to skull bite? She never bites Mister John on the head because he is intolerant of such things and would give her an immediate detention back to her outside cage.

But on this night (early morning?), there is the Chee trying to claim the high ground of the bed. Clearly Miss Jill (or one of the Guys?) was awake though to take this great portrait of the inquisitive Chee and the sleeping Mister John. And methinks he needs a shave.

Sweet dreams to all.

The Couple Who Sleeps Similarly...

There's an odd familiarity between Miss Jill and Mister John's sleeping habits. On the left hand side is a picture of Mister John sleeping oh so comfortably with a pillow over his face. Don't laugh, he actually picked that up from his mother who used to sleep with a pillow over her face as well. Miss Jill thought that was an odd habit. (Instead of bunnyonthehead, it's pillowontheforehead.)

But there you have it, on the right hand side you can see Miss Jill going all veiled on a plane. Something about sleeping with more darkness methinks.

So the question is: do you sleep with a pillow or a veil on your face?

Oddly enough, Jill had a bunny on the head last night in bed. As Miss Jill lied asleep in bed last night while Mister John watched poker for about an hour (hey, it's the 2010 addition of the World Series of Poker, yo), Cherry Bugg was asleep behind her head. But as Mister John turned off the TV and went to bed, Cherry Bugg grew restless and bit Miss Jill on the skull. Ouch. Bunnybiteonthehead?

Do note that Cherry Bugg never bites Mister John. She knows who feeds her. And she also fears he who has the power to give her a bunny bath. Nothing like having the power to bathe being one of your powerful weapons.

Chill Day for Ruby Jane

Sometimes she hops inside (like here), sometimes she hops outside. Life is simple when it is broken down into prepositions. Inside, outside, up, down, around.

We all need to live life a little more like Ruby Jane. Life can be so busy and troublesome. Just think: inside or outside.

Sometimes it can be broken down into verbs: eat or sleep. With Mister John starting a short-term vacation tomorrow, he will think of things in verb form as well. Eat, sleep, read. Alas, for Mr. John, aka Coach Erb, he needs to read (not only Paradise Lost) a ton of Decathlon material in the next few days before he and Miss Jill are swept away to Louisiana. Ruby Jane, on the other paw, will stay behind.

What Ruby Jane does NOT know is that there are plans for building her a new cage this weekend. Yes, a new cage for the Bugg sisters!!! Cherry Bugg will be so jealous yet ultimately indignant. Chip will be oblivious.
