Baths Are Fun!!!

At least that's what Mary Jane says.  Now anytime in the afternoon, her favorite word is "Bath."  She knows it's coming at some point in the late afternoon.  The only problem for Mary Jane is that it comes right before she goes to bed.  Subsequently when Daddy picks her up with his towel, that means it's dressing-for-bed time and she screams in disapproval.

Oh, she can't wait to go swimming again this summer.  Bring on those swimming classes at LMU again!

Mary Jane Suffers Bath; Chip Begs for Food

After a long day of sleeping and eating and sleeping and eating and occasionally relieving herself, Mary Jane did not realize that she'd have to take a bath today. Tomorrow is a big day for MJ as she's going to Mister John's school for the Christmas party. Oh my, she has to look really cute for that. So Miss Jill and Mister John gave her a bath tonight. Yes, such the shiny and clean girl now.

Unlike the bunny baths, MJ didn't seem to fuss much. She kept her cool and only cried in small doses. Miss Jill attacked with the sponge while Mister John calmly kept his big hairy hand upon her so she wouldn't escape. Well, more like just roll back and forth.

Meanwhile Chip surreptitiously entered the kitchen knowing that if his two main feeders were in the kitchen, some carrot action is about to happen. Chip sat there hearing the bath continue and he had some flashbacks. Nothing worse than a rabbit getting soaked. Some of those Chip bath pictures are classics. Look at that guy over there. Doesn't he look happy? OK, he looks like he just sat out in the rain for four hours without an umbrella.

Anyway, he was later given a carrot so he was happy. Mary Jane finally was dried off and put into her night wear so she could sleep. Now it's evening and with her sleeping and Chip sitting beside this blogger, all is quiet in the house... except for the noisy computer.

Tomorrow is the last day of finals for Mister John so he'll be doing Mister Dad chores for a few days. Oh no!

Chee Gets Another Bath

She had too many carrots so she is suffering from orange bottom. Nothing but hay for her now. She won't be happy with it but that's the way it has to be. Chip shouldn't be laughing; he is next.

Root Beer Float Spends Time Pondering Existence in the Tub

Due to her bizarre eating habits, Root Beer Float felt a little ill last week and needed cleaning. The only solution for her was the tub after a good washing of her fur. She had only received one bath before this -- a good thing to note because she and her sister Ruby Jane groom each other quite well -- so she was a little apprehensive (to put it lightly) about taking a bath. After giving Mister John a bath as well with all the splashing, she finally settled down and relaxed. She later spent some thinking time in the bath wondering all the key questions in the world. Why do bad things happen to good rabbits? Why don't they let us out more? What would happen if the world ran out of carrots? And... what's on the other side of that gate? Is there another world out there? What is the matrix?

But after a few minutes of that, she hopped out of the tub, escaped Mister John's grasp and ran about the house, running here and there, and dripping water onto the tile floor which upset Miss Jill. That of course made Root Beer Float chuckle as Miss Jill does not feed her and then gets upset when she tracks water about in the house. But as soon as she was trying to figure out if that action was either symbolic or ironic, Mister John grabbed her and put her in a towel and dried her off. She suddenly felt loved and happy and those questions went away.

Dirty Chip Gets Another Bath

Chip has been up to no good as has a dirty bottom once again. He has the typical Bugg trait of sitting in his potty bin for much too long. So back into the sink goes he! He fought it initially. "I'm not a stinky butt!" he exclaimed. (This is of course a direct reference to Cherry Bugg who is the archetypal "Stinky Butt") Alas, Mister John gave him another bath so for the rest of this calm Saturday, Chippers will dry off and ponder why Mister John and Miss Jill were "so cruel" to him. Meanwhile his aunt Cherry Bugg hops about in the back yard because it is Saturday, her day. On Sunday, what was traditionally the royal day for Princess Jane (RIP), Prince Phillip will be out with the Root Beer Float and Ruby Jane. None of them currently need baths.

Chip Gets a Bath

Saturdays tend to be clean up days around the house. The typical mayhem of the work week ends and we look around and see all that needs to be cleaned. And that also applies to the bunnies! Chip usually has the run of the den and sometimes he too (much like the infamous Stinky Butt, aka Cherry Bugg) has a dirty bottom. Must be a family trait. For we all recall that Miss Bugg was a famed potty sitter. If I even so much asked her to move out of her potty, she looked indignantly at me and thumped in her potty. Not always a good picture. But that was Miss Bugg for you.

So today I decided to give little Chippers a bath. He had never had one before and you could tell. As soon as Chip was in the sink, he wanted out. Immediately those little claws were a-scraping. But the poor guy was in dire need of cleaning. Typically if a bunny has a mate (either like Phillip and Jane, Flowers and Miss Bugg, or Ruby Jane and Root Beer Float), their mate helps them with cleaning. If a rabbit does not have a mate like Chip, then there is no one to clean him. Alas, poor Cherry Bugg, she alloweth no one to come within ten feet of her lest she biteth them on the arse. So she gets a bath every few months.

Now poor Chip finally got washed down and then I put him in a big Dodger beach towel (and you thought there were no good uses for Dodger beach towels... ha!). He's currently drying off and hopefully we will think again about having a dirty bottom.
