Jury Duty

THUMP. With just a few minutes left of my one day/one trial service, I was called into a jury panel. THUMP.

Other than that the only other highlight of the day was sternly telling the man booming on the cell phone next to me to shut the heck up. I received rave reviews from the peanut gallery. Sometimes the Mr. Erb comes out in me.

Tonight both Jane and Cherry Bugg sat on my lap while watching TV. Nothing better than bunny TV time.

It is what it is ($C Sucks!)

There Jill and I were sitting, high above the southern endzone in the Rose Bowl. A long boring TV timeout was lulling us all into sleep. SOmething about a fumble in the Notre Dame/UCLA game this evening. Neither team came to play. In fact, neither team wanted to win. Ultimately UCLA wanted to win less. But I digress...

The crowd started to rumble like an oncoming train in the distance. "What was that?" "Stanford scored?" We ignored such rumours... "What? Stanford is winning?" The crowd buzzed more knowing that U$C, the evil that walks the earth, was suddenly losing to the erudite but football-challenged Stanford Cardinal. The noise raised in power -- going from whispers to full out screams. Are people just going crazy? Are they just Howard Dean impersonators?

Then it happened a few minutes later... still during this eternal time out. "It's over!" Indeed the crowd rejoiced in communal celebration: Notre Dame and UCLA fan arm-in-arm. Then the chant throughout the stadium, "$C sucks!" It reverberated throughout all of Pasadena. It could be heard all the way in South Central where all the Trojan wannabes are skinning their knees as they jump off the bandwagon.

While the night did not go well for the Bruins, it still went well for us. Jill and I had a great time, we tailgated before and after the game, the rabbits ate their carrots, and I tasted some really good local rootbeer. That's what it's all about. OK, maybe onion rings too... but some other day...

I see London, I see France....

Well, I guess I'll stay in London. According to the oh-so-accurate blogthings poll, I belong in London!

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.
A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.
A unique soul like you needs a city that offers everything.
No wonder you and London will get along so well.

Actually, I hope to see Dublin soon. John and I are tossing the idea of a Spring Break in Ireland. Neither of us have been and it's on our "to see" list. I know it'll be chilly but that shouldn't slow us down. Stay tuned!
