Doing the Dog Dance

Mary Jane has not yet quite figured out the differences between rabbits, dogs, and cats.  She, being a true member of the Erb family, thinks that all animals are "bunnies."  Christmas was the first time she was introduced to those barking animals. She was completely thrown off but still calls them "bunnies" anyway.

Upon our walk a few days ago over at the Airport Park, we passed by the dog park that is there.  You know, that's the park that originally allowed only Santa Monica dogs inside.  Nevermind that all Santa Monica residents have to drive to the park and Los Angeles (re: Mar Vista) residents could actually walk there.  Ah, Santa Monica being Santa Monica.  But this isn't a rant about the evils of Santa Monica... or is it?

Anyway, Mary Jane watched some dogs and she then busted out into a dog dance.  Quite a classic to watch.

Hop Day

Root Beer Float knows that February 29th is not Leap Day but rather Hop Day.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

Twinkle, twinkle,
Little star,
How I wonder
What you are.

Up above
The world so high
Like a diamond
In the sky,

Twinkle, Twinkle,
Little star,
How I wonder
What you are.

End of Another Week

Daddy and Betsy are relaxed after she finished her first week of being SIX months old.  Goodness look at those grey hairs.  Wait, those are on Daddy.  Betsy has the beaming smile though.

Mary Jane was a little cranky this afternoon as she decided not to nap much.  Oh, who needs napping anyway?  Not that young girl!  Of course she was a bit feisty before she fell asleep.  What did she need for her final snooze?  Paul the Panda of course.  P to the P, as some in the household call him, immediately put her at ease and she went back to sleep.  Now if only some extra bamboo can be found for him.

The Best Laid Schemes o' Mice and Men Gang Aft A-Gley

Well, Miss Jill and I were planning on driving out to Arizona to visit her family this three-day weekend.  Unfortunately, one of our dear little girls got "sick" on the ride out.  Luckily, it was only two miles from Aunt Pat and Uncle Brent's house.

So instead of random musings from Arizona, we're having a "slow" weekend at home.  But there are so many things to do and right now I have so many pages to read to work on Salome paper so I best be going.  But for now, please enjoy the following two videos that I have recently downloaded on this site.

Feed Thyself!

Typically I feed Mary Jane and don't think much of it.  She smiles, she eats, she makes a mess, I clean the mess.  So goes the session.

But then I wandered off to grab a towel and came to witness Mary Jane feeding herself.  Yes, I know it's a rite of passage that most young children attain (ok, some of my HS sophomores still can't figure it out) but this still looks good for all those family members who haven't seen any updates lately.  Alas, Decathlon and grad school kind of slowed down my typical downloading pace.

This is not to say she hasn't made other similar strides.  She now knows how to sign "all done" so we know when she's tired of tofu.  But typically, she eats everything on her tray.  More often than not she'll sign for "more" and then possibly "please."  Who can see No to such a polite little girl?

Peekaboo!

Little Betsy gets all excited as Mommy plays her best game of Peekaboo!  Look at that wide-faced smile!

Busiest Day of the Year

The Academic Decathlon has come and gone for another year.  I'll talk about it more tomorrow at some point but Mary Star did quite well again, managing to win 41 individual medals as well as four team medals too.  Lots of high fiving, blowing it up, and smiles all around.  I love watching hard work get the appropriate rewards.
